Nuts and BoltsThis month we will focus on key information about technology in our district. The Instructional Technology folks ( Dan and Tim) meet with the Technology Department regularly to try and streamline processes and communicate issues back and forth. From these meetings, there have been a couple of items identified that we want to clarify here in this blog. Wireless Internet AccessThere are two WiFi networks administered by the district. GAPS-Private GAPS-Public GAPS-Private--Students/Staff. You will need to connect to GAPS-Private using your computer username and password. NOT to be confused with your email address and password. :) This network will give you the same sort of internet access and privileges as you would have on your desktop workstation. GAPS-Public is intended for, you guessed it, public use. It is set to the most restrictive level of access. Students and staff should not use this network. ALSO, the connection to GAPS-Public will KICK YOU OUT for 24 hours, every 48 hours. What a pain? Use GAPS-Private. SMART BOardsDO NOT UPDATE YOUR SMART Software. The software is no longer free and will ask you to pay for a license after the trial period has expired. See this page for instructions on how to check your version and install a version that works. You should be running version 10.8 for free unabated access. If your SMART board is not working properly for some reason, please, please, please contact us. Frequently Asked Technology QuestionsWe created a page to help alleviate frustration and time wasted troubleshooting basic technology issues. You can find information on printers, network drives, accessing the Wifi and more at the Technology FAQ Page. If you have suggestions of ideas to add, please let us know.
